Business Challenge:
Microsoft brought 15,000 worldwide employees to the Georgia World Congress Center, all needing access to a variety of wired and wireless networks. They needed a secure, customized, fully redundant enterprise class network. Response time was critical, the network needed to be continuously monitored throughout the conference.
Solution Delivered:
Network security and design was planned through a collaborative effort between CCLD and Microsoft. CCLD worked diligently over a six month period to ensure the network would meet Microsoft’s needs. Redundant Internet connectivity was established through the addition of a 20 Mb wireless connection. All networking equipment was not only redundant but spare equipment was on-site if needed. A 24 hour network operations center was established, providing immediate on-site service and response.
Value:
100% uptime meant that Microsoft did not have to be concerned with whether they would have the tools to reach their conference's goals. Steve Hart, Senior Technical Consultant with Microsoft said “I have spent time in many convention centers over the past few years, watching events like this one come together, and I have never experienced such a high level of customer service.” He further described Microsoft’s experience, “Often times on events of this nature, there is an obvious division between our staff and the house connectivity provider. In this case, however, those lines disappeared and we were all able to pull together to make MGB 2004 a resounding success.” |
